A year ago... in Chicago

This time last year, I was making plans with my girl friends for a weekend trip to Chicago. I was going to be there for work, and decided to stay through the weekend.

My long-time friends, Cloe (from NYC) and Sam (from L.A.) joined me for a weekend of food, laughter, and a green river!

We spent the weekend walking around Chicago, hitting Navy Pier, the Magnificent Mile, going to the top of the John Hancock building, taking pictures with the Bean. It was a great weekend filled with laughter and memories, spent with friends that I've known since I was 6 years old.

I am always very grateful that I have friends from my childhood that I am still friends with now. Those special people are like sisters and brothers to me. Years may go by without us seeing each other or even talking to one another, but when we do get to spend time together, it is as if the years melt away.

The older I get, the more I realize that true friends are indeed a treasure!

Mommy's first day back at work

My dearest Eidan,

Mommy tried very hard not to cry today while getting ready for work. I went in to your room and did the “Good Morning” routine and you were smiling and cooing and just as happy as can be. I had to do a quick drop off at grandma’s house otherwise I would’ve stayed there, holding on to you and bawling for sure.

The 12 weeks have gone by so fast and it has been a joy to share every single moment with you. Hmmm, okay, maybe the first few weeks when I was so sleep deprived were not such fun ones!

You are truly the light of my life, and everyday I love you more and more. Here’s to a great 2012 as we celebrate a year of firsts for you (I truly hope I do not miss any!!). Stay happy and healthy, my sweet little man. And I hope you grow up knowing how much you are loved.

9 weeks later...

Boy, people weren't kidding when they told me having a newborn = having barely any time for anything or anyone else!

My beautiful baby boy, Eidan John, was born at 4:02 p/m/ on November 10, 2011. All I can say is, it truly was love at first sight. All the pain I endured throughout the pregnancy and the labor and delivery were worth it.

This is just going to be a quick one :) I am still getting into the groove of things. But please meet my little man!

The first smile he ever gave me-- completely erased all the stress I was feeling from lack of sleep and nourishment!
